Sunrise Shells are extremely rare because Hawaii is the only place of the world that they are found. It is rare for the surf to bring them up to the beach because they live in the depths of the ocean.I was raised on the North Shore with the love of the ocean. We spent most of our time surfing, fishing, looking for and gathering sea shells and living a waterman lifestyle. We would often find puka shells, cowrie shells, cone shells, and a large variety of other common Hawaiian Sea Shells. Finding a Sunrise Shell was like finding the golden egg during an Easter egg hunt.
